Care Guide

Light

Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Can adapt to medium light but avoid low-light corners. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves.

Water

Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows. Avoid sudden overwatering as it can cause leaf drop.

Temperature & Humidity

Thrives in 18–27°C (65–80°F). Protect from drafts, sudden temperature changes, and cold below 12°C (54°F). Prefers moderate to high humidity – occasional misting helps.

Soil & Potting

Use a well-draining, fertile potting mix (peat + perlite or sand). Ensure pot has good drainage holes. Repot every 2–3 years as the plant grows.

Fertilizing

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce or stop feeding in winter.

Pruning & Maintenance

Prune to shape and control size in spring. Remove yellow or dead leaves regularly. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.

Propagation

Can be propagated through stem cuttings in water or moist soil. Air layering is also effective for larger stems.

Common Problems & Solutions

Leaf drop: Caused by overwatering, underwatering, or sudden environmental changes → Adjust care and avoid moving the plant often. Yellow leaves: Usually due to soggy soil → Improve drainage. Brown edges: Low humidity or underwatering → Mist leaves and maintain even moisture. Pests (spider mites, scale, mealybugs): Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
