Care Guide

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light, but tolerates low to medium light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Low light may slow growth but won’t harm the plant.

Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep soil lightly moist, never soggy. Reduce watering in winter. Sensitive to fluoride in tap water – use filtered or rainwater to prevent leaf tip browning.

Temperature & Humidity

Ideal temperature: 18–27°C (65–80°F). Keep away from cold drafts or heating vents. Enjoys moderate humidity – occasional misting helps keep leaves fresh.

Soil & Potting

Use a well-draining potting mix (standard houseplant mix + perlite). Ensure pots have drainage holes to prevent root rot. Repot every 2–3 years or when roots outgrow the container.

Fertilizing

Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Skip or reduce fertilization during winter.

Pruning & Maintenance

Trim yellow or brown leaves to maintain appearance. Cut back tall, leggy stems to encourage bushier growth. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.

Propagation

Propagate through stem cuttings placed in water or soil. Best done in spring or summer for faster rooting.

Common Problems & Solutions

Brown tips → Fluoride in water, low humidity, or under-watering. Yellowing leaves → Overwatering or poor drainage. Dropping leaves → Natural aging or sudden temperature change. Pests (spider mites, mealybugs) → Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
