Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light but also tolerates low light. Variegated varieties need more light to maintain leaf patterns. Avoid direct harsh sunlight, which can burn leaves.

Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Tolerates occasional missed watering, making it beginner-friendly. Overwatering may cause yellowing leaves and root rot. Can also grow in water-filled containers, changing water every 7–10 days.

Temperature & Humidity

Ideal temperature: 18–30°C (65–86°F). Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to normal indoor conditions. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.

Soil & Potting

Grows well in a well-draining potting mix with perlite or sand. Ensure pots have drainage holes to prevent soggy roots. Repot every 1–2 years as vines grow longer and bushier.

Fertilizing

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows.

Pruning & Maintenance

Trim long vines to encourage bushier growth. Use cuttings to propagate and grow new plants. Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them shiny and dust-free.

Propagation

Very easy to propagate by stem cuttings in water or soil. Roots usually develop within 1–2 weeks.

Common Problems & Solutions

Yellow leaves → Overwatering or poor drainage. Leggy growth → Not enough light. Drooping leaves → Underwatering or root-bound plant. Pests (mealybugs, aphids) → Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
