Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can burn fronds.

Water

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Reduce watering slightly in winter. Sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in tap water – use filtered water if possible.

Temperature & Humidity

Ideal temperature: 18–27°C (65–80°F). Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature drops. Loves high humidity – mist regularly or use a humidifier.

Soil & Potting

Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally peat-based with perlite or sand. Repot every 2–3 years in spring to refresh soil and allow growth.

Fertilizing

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Do not over-fertilize, as salts can damage roots.

Pruning & Maintenance

Trim off yellow or brown fronds at the base. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust. Avoid cutting green stems – the plant won’t regrow from them.

Propagation

Propagate by division of clumps during repotting. New offsets can be separated and potted individually.

Common Problems & Solutions

Brown leaf tips → Low humidity or fluoride in water. Yellowing leaves → Overwatering or poor drainage. Stunted growth → Not enough light or nutrients. Spider mites or mealybugs → Clean with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
